Recreational Buildings or Auto Shops for ATVs, RVs, and Boats

Recreational buildings are today’s modern horse barns. Instead of horses though, some of these customized auto shops hold four-wheelers and mowers. Add in an RV, motorcycle, or boat and your modern barn stands ready for Rocky Mountain adventures or rounding up the horses.

Tinker if you like in an auto shop design for recreation. Then plan the cruise some of the amazing trails in Colorado. A post-frame garage offers a broad range of options to think about.Recreational Buildings

Organizing the Floorplan for Small Vehicles

Thoughtful design can transform any recreational building into much more than a big old garage. In fact, good planning the best way to ensure you’ve made a good investment. While planning, our clients figure out little ways to make the best use of space and equipment. They work out the kinks by trying out a variety of floorplans and projected uses.

After all, those who love their new auto shops will end up spending productive time inside them. The buildings will look good and be useful. Equipment and supplies could line the back wall in a horizonal building. In a double-deep layout for auto shops the equipment could also be easily accessible in the center—close to the Harley, Ranger, or tiny sports car.

Purposeful Buildings

What activities need space and how could that be integrated into the project? We encourage anyone thinking about ordering custom pole barns to ponder present and future purposeful uses for it. One client may decide to layer the workspace and reduce the footprint while the next wants to spread out and leave extra interior space for an aisle.

Multi-Use Buildings

Say you’re thinking of a recreational building to serve a handful of purposes in suburban Colorado. Maybe you would like a game room, a place to park the RV or boat, golf cart and your riding mower. Now, if you have rear access, architects could separate the garages from the more social game room area closer to the house. Some clients live in subdivisions zoned for horses. Many of them will want to add a horse stall.Recreational Buildings

Remember, the roof pitch of pole buildings dictates the interior height and volume. The pitch can be changed to create a taller ceiling. For RV access, the building needs a taller ceiling and door. That extra height could allow for placing a game room or storage in a loft above the smaller vehicles. With Colorado weather, this idea would have use thinking hard about ventilation and comfort. Just throwing out some things to think about.

Auto Shops for Small Motorized Vehicles

Buildings used for storing or working on small motor vehicles could be smaller. Golf carts, ATVs, motorcycles, and boat engines do not need as much square footage as trucks and larger vehicles. They may fit into one or two bays and still leave a sizable area for a game room or horses.

One client designed his new garage to double as a place to hold parties with live musicians. Vehicles or an RV can be parked in the garage when nothing’s happening. Otherwise, move them out and fire up the grill. Another client added a nifty retro lounge.

Recreational Buildings

Does the concept of recreational buildings interest you? Do you have extra small vehicles squished into your garage or barn? And would they be better off protected in a new post frame building? Of course, your animals could enjoy new stalls in a modern barn near where you’re fiddling with your toys or entertaining friends.
