Backyard Equine Arenas in Ebert County

Oh, for the country living in Ebert County, a rural area to the east between Denver and Colorado Springs.  Ebert County is the perfect place to build backyard equine arenas.  Yes, right over there near the swing set or the woodshed.

Equine ArenasAnd do we ever have one in mind for you.  Do you want to have a couple of horses, enough for the kids to earn points in 4-H?  Imagine the entire family participating in the equestrian lifestyle.    How about 4 or 5 horses to ride the open trails into the Rocky Mountains?

Residential State-of-the-Art Equine Arenas

A good horse arena allows both the horse and rider for the best performances.  To effectively train all year round, owners are best off building indoor arenas leading to outdoor areas and paddocks.  These well-tended equine arenas are safe places to ride and train.

So outdoor arenas are great but how about an indoor arena for your favorite horses–right in the backyard.  May we recommend a pole barn with permanent walls and excellent ventilation?  Add tack, cleaning areas, stalls, lofts and ground floor storage areas, an office, garage—add the extra rooms you need.

A fairly modern way to build, the pole barn features a wide open span suitable for putting all your activities under one roof.  Pole buildings can be as large or small as you choose.  Let’s say you go small, maybe 60 feet, on a small horse property or larger for bigger operations.

These fantastic horse arenas can be on the same property as some of the elegant country estate homes that are popping up in Ebert County, too.  The exterior can be architecturally designed to match the homes and other buildings on the property.

Flooring is Important

All of the floor area needs to be layered with recommended soils.  This includes a sub-base of native soils, another several inches of crushed rock with granules less than a quarter inch in diameter, and a crown footing layer of sand or other recommended material, which serves as a riding surface.  The layering promotes good drainage and helps avoid mud problems.

Even so, the floor must be watered, raked, and dragged at the surface level.  This is an exercise similar to that of maintaining a cross-country ski course.  And the outdoor floors need to be avoided by riders and horses after a rainstorm.
