Me and My Horse Stable and Arena – A Weekend Getaway

At times, I want a place away from it all. I’d like a place for my little family to spend weekends away from the hustle and bustle of Denver. I don’t need a spa or a resort. I just need to get in the saddle and make my way along the trails and through the magical Colorado forests.

Stable, Arena, and Small Apartment

Looking on the website for Lester Buildings, I found a perfect equestrian hobby building with living quarters. Not too big, the cute horse stable could accommodate two horses and a small family. It’s even got an outdoor arena.

Project #511346 built in Iowa would also go well in Douglas County. I put it somewhere near trail access, somewhere I could find vacant acreage. This building is 36′ x 60′ x 14′ and features classic Flying Gable, a porch with a mansard roof, Dutch doors, and a cupola on top. It’s insulated with a metal liner, too. All under one roof, this stable and apartment looks exactly like my dream.

Horse Stable with Living Quarters

I understand the environment of the living quarters needs to differ from the horse stables. We would need to insulate carefully and add lighting, windows, and airflow. I’d like a well-thought-out interior of the living quarters. I want to design a place for everything and be able to put things away.

In fact, I could change the idea to garage an RV instead of building in an apartment. The overhead door would need to be taller. That idea could save me the cost of adding extra insulation for the living quarters. It would also give me more flexibility in the future. What if I decide to board more horses in the stable and then build a house on the property?

Let me contact Sapphire Construction, Inc. here in Castle Rock. I’d like to find out about their electronic design software and partnership with Lester Buildings. I want to sit down with them to explain my two different ideas and find out the costs. In the meantime, I’m on the hunt for at least 5 vacant acres that will provide me easy access to the exciting trail systems through Douglas County. A small property in the northern section of Black Forest could work perfectly.
