Enduring Colorado Sheds withstand Weather Patterns

The geography and accompanying climate of Colorado is complex.  These natural elements demand sound architecture and craftsmanship for all structures, especially for Central Colorado sheds and outbuildings.  The professionals at Sapphire Construction, Inc. in Castle Rock, Colorado custom design a variety of top-notch sheds and outbuildings of all sizes.  These strong and warrantied buildings are specifically engineered to withstand extreme Colorado weather, and to protect inventory and belongings.

Colorado ShedsThe diverse geography—pine laden mountains to arid plains, canyons and rock formations to rivers and lakes–lies entirely above 3300-foot elevations.  Mount Elbert is the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains.  Pikes Peak is located west of Colorado Springs.  It famous summit (14,114 feet elevations) can be seen for hundreds of miles if the skies are clear.  Those majestic mountains and surrounding valleys greatly affect local climate.  With the increase in elevations, we normally experience lower temperatures and more precipitation.

On the positive side, the Colorado Rocky Mountains protect shed in Central Colorado the area from some of the worst Pacific storms.  And the sun shines brightly upon us almost every day.

Front Range Vulnerabilities

About three-quarters of Coloradoans live along the Front Range urban corridor.  The Front Range is vulnerable to strong winds, heavy snows, ice buildup and intense rains.  This Front Range area of Central Colorado is east of the Continental Divide and extends from the northern edge of Colorado south past Colorado Springs.  Dozens of smaller and larger communities, including Denver, Parker, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs, are along the Front Range in a special place where the mountains meet the plains.

Colorado ShedsThe Front Range urban corridor lies in a pronounced “precipitation shadow”.   Front Range cities that are closest to the mountains are at times graced by warm Chinook winds.  Temperatures can rise to 70 degrees in the winter.  This creates melting which in turn freezes.  Weather fluctuations can add weight and stress to the roof.

And there is a combination of factors that can cause flooding during some years. Between thunderstorms and fast snow melt, the warmer temperatures of spring mean flooding in the neighboring High Plains at the eastern edge of the Front Range.
