Commercial Horse Arenas for Colorado’s Lifestyle

When you think of growing your equestrian facilities, commercial horse arenas come to mind. How great would it be to run a business with the horses you love? Just as horse owners are lucky enough to keep their ponies in home stables others board their horses away from home. And you’re deciding to open an equestrian business.

Here’s how one person added boarding services. See project #212528 in Kiowa, Colorado, a handsome 36’ x 72’ x 10’ equestrian arena with Dutch doors.

Equestrian Businesses

So, you wonder, will equestrians trust their beloved horses to you and your boarding stables? If you open the doors and provide expert services, we’re sure local equestrians will seek out your services.

Think through your plans. Be certain you have the needed funds, branding and marketing, online presence, and know how to run a business. Then comes the equestrian arena and stables.

Those who have already opened equestrian businesses recommend five crucial elements:

1. Profit Motive needed to show IRS this is more than a hobby.
2. Business Plan to find out if there is a need for your business.
3. Get expert advise to keep your plan grounded.
4. Find a unique niche to make your business stand out.
5. Advertise to reach the people who would appreciate your services.

Equestrian Lifestyle

In Colorado you’ll not lack for interest. Equestrian training and boarding facilities blend into the Colorado lifestyle. Western sports such as traditional rodeos have embellished the cowboy image for centuries. Besides, while herding Texas longhorn across the country, cowboys handed down the exciting rodeo competitions still held throughout the area. Coloradoans take their horses along to trail riding, pack rides, rodeo, 4-H, and traditional events like dressage and jumping.

A series of equestrian events are available along the entire front range from Colorado Springs to the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Groups hit the trails, others hold the big rodeos in Denver and up to Wyoming. And betters join into the racing fun at Arapahoe Park. You may be aware of the local trails. Truly, this is horse country.

  1. Hidden Mesa Open Space & Trail: located near Frank town, Hidden Mesa features 1224 acres of open space with 7 miles of trails meandering around Scrub Oak and wildlife.
  2. Salisbury Equestrian Sports Parks: This links to the Cherry Creek Trail System.
  3. Chatfield State Park: provides 24 miles of horse trails through 3768 acres of open grassland with views of the foothills and the Plains.
  4. East-West Regional Trail: This trail extends from Chatfield State Park to Parker, with 20 miles of trails passing through smaller parks.

Horse Racing

Raising horses fits into Denver communities. We also horse races. Maybe it’s not the Kentucky Derby but the races held in Aurora at Arapahoe Park offer Colorado jockeys and up-and-coming resource owners a place to wade into the industry. Who knows? Someone might come up with the next Rich Strike or Sonny Leon. Arapahoe Park is our only live summer racetrack. The track opens May 22 with races on Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays through the middle of August. The AQHA began activities at Arapahoe Park in April.

In addition, Mile High Racing & Entertainment presents “Where Horses Come First.” The program offers a 39-day mixed meat including programs to promote the welfare of horses. “Gates Open at Arapahoe Park” airs on Thursdays beginning at 630 May 21. It presents stories and profiles of horses and horsemen. And Arapahoe Park also helps find homes for retired racehorses.

Commercial Horse Arenas and Stables

So, we find multitudes of ways horse owners exercise equestrian activities and skills in Central Colorado. In neighboring Elbert County, training, breeding, and boarding facilities take advantage of the wide open spaces and large farms and ranches. It can be the place to build your commercial horse arena or add horse stalls to your enterprise.
