Castle Rock Horse Barn Construction Progress – From Framing to Siding

by | Apr 29, 2026

Castle Rock Horse Barn Build Progress Update

Castle Rock horse barn construction is moving along quickly as this custom post-frame building transitions from framing into exterior and interior finishing stages. Over the past few weeks, we’ve made major progress on roofing, siding, and interior layout.

Castle Rock Horse Barn Construction: Framing Progress

The project began with setting columns and framing the core structure, including:

  • Setting 28 structural columns
  • Installing trusses and roof purlins
  • Framing endwalls, sidewalls, and porch areas
  • Building headers, stall openings, and transitions

As framing progressed, the crew focused on ensuring the building was straight, properly braced, and ready for sheathing and roofing.

Roof Installation & Weather Protection

Once framing was complete, we moved into roofing and weatherproofing:

  • Installed roof sheeting, screws, and snow retention systems
  • Installed battens, ridge closures, and ridge trim
  • Completed soffit and fascia trim
  • Wrapped the building with house wrap and sealed all openings

This phase is critical to protect the structure from the elements and prepare for exterior finishes.

Doors, Openings & Exterior Prep

With the building dried in, we installed key structural and functional elements:

  • Man doors installed and flashed
  • Dutch doors installed with full hardware
  • Openings framed and trimmed for large access doors
  • Drip edge and transition details completed

At this stage, the building starts to become more functional and easier to visualize in its final use.

Castle Rock Barn: Exterior Siding Installation

One of the biggest visual milestones on this project was installing the exterior siding.

We completed vertical T1-11 siding on the main structure, including:

  • Full siding install on the north wall
  • Endwall layout and sheeting
  • Transition backing for trim and finish details

This stage transforms the structure from a framed building into something that closely resembles the finished product.

Interior Progress: Tack Room Framing

With weather moving in, we shifted focus to interior work to keep the project moving forward.

Interior work included:

  • Framing tack room walls and ceiling

  • Preparing walls for metal and tongue-and-groove finishes
  • Installing structural hardware and completing detail framing

One advantage of post-frame construction is the ability to continue progress inside the building even when exterior work is temporarily limited. This Castle Rock horse barn construction project highlights how a well-planned post-frame build comes together efficiently, even with changing weather conditions.
