Want to learn roping? Head out on Thursdays at 5:00 PM to the Messer Arena. You can begin training with the ground dummy and the dummy on a sled. Then live cattle appear at 7:00 PM.
Get Horses for your New Barn at Auction
After you get your horse trailer, head up to Fort Collins on Wednesdays for the Centennial livestock auctions. You’ll find some beautiful horses in the mix. You’ll find some great buys. Take Interstate 25 to exit 269 B for Hwy. 14.
Douglas County Equestrian Events
Every year equestrians and their horses come out for our big state fairs and championship shows. Throughout the summer, 4-H events and shows fill the schedules at Douglas County fairgrounds. Enroll in classes on jumping, obstacles, or trail riding.
Or pack up your horse and head to Bayou Gulch open space in Parker, Colorado. The horse trails there promote equestrian sport in Douglas County and beyond. The Bayou Gulch organization offers many disciplines that “improve, maintain, protect, and steward” the open space. So, you will find eventers, combined, drivers, hunting clubs, pony clubs, and 4-H groups out of there also.
