Why such diverse uses? One innovative building method used for low rise buildings is the pole barn. It allows for a wide open roof span of 90 feet or more. Uninterrupted space means a clean slate for designers. The interior walls and stalls, lofts and mezzanines go anywhere necessary.
Steel Panels
High grade steel enhances the project. Lester’s strict standards result in a consistent, high quality panel. This is not generic stock. Computer generated drawings produce programmed panel lengths. Each layer of the Uni-Rib™ steel panel must meet high standards. This includes the steel coil, protective coatings, paint and design.
When analyzing steel panels, we consider the following five aspects:
- Profile/Shape. Lester Buildings’ Uni-Rib steel panels are roll formed in the Illinois plant. Panel strength increases with extra ribs or bends and length.
- Thickness. Lester Buildings offers 29-gauge and 26-gauge steel as standard products. The smaller the gauge, the thicker the panel.
- Tensile Yield Strength. Lester uses Grade E steel coil. This product features at least 80,000 psi tensile yield strength.
- Protective Coatings Steel Panel Protective Coatings. The Uni-Rib steel panel uses a galvanization process for corrosion protection on both sides of the panel. The coating also provides good paint adhesion and scratch resistance. Engineers recommend G60 galvanizing for most applications. G90 galvanizing works best for high moisture or caustic gas situations.
- Paint Systems. The two options for paint systems come with an outstanding warranty. The special paint provides extra protection against harsh environmental elements. These include ultraviolet rays, acidic rain, and humidity along with normal wear and tear.
