Dressage Design Custom Horse Barns Colorado

Parents whose children have equestrian dreams consider adding custom horse barns along the Colorado Front Range.  These pole buildings go up quickly and come with long-term warranties.  Many youngsters prefer dressage.  Dressage ranks among the greatest disciplined showcase activities, like gymnastics and ballet.  It is sort of an equestrian ballet, demanding determined practice to reach high levels of planned precision.

A residential horse barn gives youngsters themselves the opportunity for a valuable, self-discipline lifestyle.  More exactly, what types of activities are involved?  And how much barn and arena space does dressage require?

What is Dressage?

custom horse barnsIn French, “dressage” means “training.”  In fact, horses and their riders trained together combining each one’s talents.  The rider tunes into the horse’s athletic abilities and natural grace.  The horse seeks to the one with the rider as the two perform a series of tasks.

During competitions, riders are confined to wearing specific apparel and equipment regulated by the United States Equestrian Foundation.  Specific regulations also deal with tack and equipment.  Riders must use English saddles, preferably dressage saddles.  They wear white or light colored reaches, a light -colored shirt and tie or choker with a black or navy blue colored jacket.  Longhair is tied up.  Details go down to the do’s and don’ts for horses.  For example, no boots or wraps on their legs, the pads must be plain white, the manes are rated and the tail evenly cut across the bottom.

Property owners may choose custom horse barns with regulation-size arenas or smaller arenas.  Effective dressage practice sessions may be best accomplished in arenas measuring 20X40 meters or 20X60 meters – about 65 feet to 200 feet, a doable size for many equine properties in Douglas, El Paso, and Jefferson counties.

Training Pyramid or Scale

Horses compete on several levels.  The tests involve variations of patterns and movements.  These are defined directives and are performed in front of a judge positioned at a certain letter.  Standard letters used during competitions, including K, F, V, P, E, B, S, R, H and M, are placed in specific points of the arenas.

Freestyle Events

Additional tests may be also administered.  Each has a specific purpose and guideline.  Riders ride freestyle to music and proceed up to the Grand Prix test.  Watching the teams performs the double canter pirouettes, pirouettes in piaffe, and half-pass in passage is amazing.  They also participate in a pas de deux with two horses and riders or the quadrille, which features four horses and riders.  It’s fun to watch the beauty unfold as horses and riders gain proficiency.  Add music as they do for the highest-level tests, and marvel at the exciting results.
